Thanks for asking! My name is Alli, and I started Allison Ball Consulting in early 2014.
Prior to launching my business, I worked for the Bi-Rite Family of Businesses, sourcing product and developing grocery staff for years at Bi-Rite Market on 18th Street, and then in the position of Head of Grocery and Store Manager at Bi-Rite Divisadero, building and managing a team and operations to support over half of the products in the store.
Since Bi-Rite Market, I've successfully opened several retail locations, worked with a variety of clients ranging from non-profits, to small businesses, to James Beard nominated and award-winning chefs as they venture into retail. In addition, I consult with food producers, assisting them with business planning, product development and launch, and building wholesale accounts. I work with restaurants and retail to train and coach their management team, ensuring their staff are motivated, fulfilled, and, most importantly, sticking around.
I teach classes on creating successful food businesses at The Food Craft Institute in Oakland and La Cocina in San Francisco. I volunteer as an adviser for both The Culinary Institute of America's Food Business School and Kitchen Table Advisors, as well as act as the founding Pantry Chair for The Good Food Awards.
